Rental Policy

Our policies are designed to create a safe rental experience. Learning what’s allowed can help you avoid unintentionally breaking the rules and helps everyone enjoy a safe, reliable, and experience.

Seasons

Spring:     4/1 thru 5/30
Summer:  6/1 thru 9/30
Fall:         10/1 thru 11/6
Winter:    11/7 thru 3/31

Weekdays and Weekends

Weekdays are Monday through Thursday.  
Weekends are Friday through Sunday.

Holidays

Holiday’s require a four-day minimum rental billed at the weekend rate.

2024 Holiday Weekends Include:

  • Memorial Day (Monday May 27)
  • 4th of July (Thursday July 4th)
  • Labor Day (Monday September 2)

Rental Types

Multi-day

  • Vessel is provided without captain or crew.   The renter, is responsible for the safety of the crew and vessel, along with all aspects of seamanship. 
  • From 9 AM to the following day, or more, evening return. 
  • Early morning departure available to qualified Customers. Arrangements must be made at least 10 days prior to departure.

Hourly

  • Vessel is provided with a captain and crew.  The captain will chart the course and be responsible for the safety of the crew and vessel. 
  • Hourly rentals are all in the same day. 

Reservation / Cancellation Policy

  • $500 Reservation Deposit is required at time of booking
  • Cancellation of reservation within 7 days prior to scheduled departure will result in Days Off LLC retaining 100% of deposit. 
  • Cancellation of reservation prior to 7 days of departure will result in 50% of Reservation Deposit refunded.
  • Cancellation of reservation prior to 14 days of departure will result in 100% of Reservation Deposit refunded
  • Cancellations must be made in writing via website, email or text
  • At time of departure the Damage Deposit and remaining balance is due.

Qualification to Rent

In order to qualify to rent a boat from Days Off LLC, a minimum amount of experience or certifications are required.   

Any or all of the following:

  • Must 28 yrs or older
  • Washington State boaters license
  • Bareboat Charter certification
  • Cruiser certification
  • 40 hours handling similar sized and type of boat as captain or skipper
  • Multiple overnight experience 

Checkout – Coast Guard

We abide by Coast Guard requirements for vessel operation and safety for rented vessels.  Therefore, new clients are required to go through the Safety and Operations Training and Orientation.  It is a one time process, and is included with the Vessel Checkout for new clients. 

Checkout – Vessel

Check-outs are required for the first time rental of each vessel.  It includes safety orientation, overview of the systems on board, handling and maneuvering in tight quarters, navigation & piloting, anchoring and docking assessment.  Completion of which does not guarantee that the client will be approved to rent the vessel. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.  Regardless if you pass or fail, no refunds will be granted.

Checkouts should be scheduled at least two weeks before departure.  Check-outs are charged to the renter at $100 per hour, at 1-hour increments, and a 30-minute threshold. They can take 1 to 3 hours depending on experience and boat.  

Damage Deposit

A damage deposit of $500 will be held until post-voyage inspection is complete.  Damage may include but is not limited to physical damage, lost or broken items (listed below) and excessive cleaning.  Damage assessment and refund initiation will be conducted within 48 hours of reservation completion. 

Survey of vessel, noting any preconditions with Days Off and customer will be conducted day of or day before of departure. 

Operational Area and Restrictions

  • The vessel is restricted within the Puget Sound in the United States.  The insurance will not apply if the vessel is outside of the United States, i.e. Canada.  
  • The vessel is not allowed through the Ballard Locks.  
  • The insurance will not apply if the Vessel is underway after sunset or before sunrise; when visibility is restricted; in gale force or higher winds; or if renter fails to abide by any cruising area instructions.

Vessel Fitness and Seaworthiness

Vessels in the Days Off LLC fleet follow a comprehensive maintenance plan, and we make every effort to ensure a trouble-free boating experience but, sometimes, maintenance issues do occur. Days Off LLC handles vessel fitness and seaworthiness issues on a case-by-case basis, and in the event, a vessel is not seaworthy, reserves the right to issue a credit, switch the guest to another boat, or cancel the rental altogether. Days Off LLC makes every effort to ensure secondary boat systems including but not limited to refrigeration, cabin heat, stove, oven and entertainment systems are operational but secondary systems are not guaranteed.

Vessel Modifications

Customers and guests are not allowed to physically modify a rented vessel without the consent of the captain including but not limited to:

  • Removing or altering dodgers or bimini tops or other parts of the vessel’s canvas
  • Altering the vessel’s rigging

Service Charges

You maybe charged, but not limited to, these fees if the boat is found in these conditions

Full holding tank $75

Fouled holding tank $1000 plus labor

Clogged head $150 plus labor

Skied halyard $100

Chase boat $200 per hour

Fouled prop $150 plus labor

Labor: $100/hour, billed in 30 minute increments

Cleaning Fee

Customers are required to return the boat in the condition they found it.  Excessive cleaning will be taken from the damage deposit or in excess of, an additional fee may apply.  Labor over 15 minutes for additional cleaning will be charged at $100/hour, billed in 30-minute increments

Pet Charges

Pets are not allowed on rentals no matter how cute they are.  Any damage caused by a pet will incur a damage repair cost plus $1,500 fine. 

Fuel

Multi-day Rental: The customer is required to refuel the vessel before Check-In.  The captain, dock staff, and the customer will review the fuel gauge upon departure and upon return.  If the vessel is returned with the fuel level below the departure level the renter will be charged for repleneshing the tank, plus $50 servcie fee. 

Hourly:  Fuel is included in standard routes listed planned.  Other excursions requested by client may incure additional fuel charges. 

Pricing Disclaimer

We do everything we can to ensure that the prices on our website, email marketing, and other media are correct, and we try to keep our prices constant. Sometimes we need to change the cost of a service, either up or down. Prices may be changed at any time without further notice. We reserve the right to cancel services and change our prices at any time without further notice.

Crab Pots, Shrimp Pots & Dive Equipment

Days Off LLC does not allow crab pots, shrimp pots, or dive tanks and equipment to be transported by or used from it’s vessels. 

Coastguard Compliance

Days Off LLC requires all “souls” on board to have a life jacket. PFDs and foul-weather gear can be provided as needed.

Each vessel has a maximum number of “souls” allowed per the US Coastguard’s regulations. Please plan ahead when arranging crew and guests. The number of “souls” on board exceeding US Coast Guard regulations will result in cancellation of reservation by Days Off LLC without refund.

Force Majure

Days Off LLC reserves the right to cancel a rental due to adverse weather conditions or any other factor which, in the sole and absolute discretion of Days Off LLC, might adversely affect the safety of the Customer and the rented vessel. This cancellation may be made by Days Off LLC anytime before departure. In such an event, Days Off LLC will refund any money paid by guests for said rental. Such refund shall be the only liability of Days Off LLC.
